Stimulating integration of departments within the ambidextrous organization
نویسنده
چکیده
This article is a result of a literature study. The article first gives a small introduction to the concept of ambidextrous organizations. Then the study starts by defining main characteristics of innovating and operating departments. Next a comparison between the characteristics of both department types is made and the main differences between the two are lined out. The article is then concluded by describing four strategies that stimulate integration of the two department types by reducing the differences between the department types.

Managing Innovation Paradox in the Sustainable Innovation Ecosystem: A Case Study of Ambidextrous Capability in a Focal Firm
To achieve sustainable development, focal firms should balance two paradoxical kinds of innovation activities: exploitative and exploratory ones. Published works found that ambidexterity is an effective way to resolve paradoxical tensions, but few in-depth studies have been conducted to explore the innovation paradox of focal firms in the innovation ecosystem from an ambidextrous capability per...

متن کاملExploitation-Exploration Tensions and Organizational Ambidexterity: Managing Paradoxes of Innovation
A exploitation and exploration enables success, even survival, but raises challenging tensions. Ambidextrous organizations excel at exploiting existing products to enable incremental innovation and at exploring new opportunities to foster more radical innovation, yet related research is limited. Largely conceptual, anecdotal, or single case studies offer architectural or contextual approaches. ...
متن کاملContesting Functional Specialization: The Case of Ambidextrous Manufacturing
In seeking higher performance, organizations differentiate themselves internally in an attempt to economize on bounded rationality. I argue that for this same reason—bounded rationality— maximal functional specialization is not optimal organizational design from the point of view of exploration. I examine this argument by testing the hypothesis that functional overlap and organizational integra...
